There is a little cluster of Millennium bridges around Chippenham and Calne. All were designed by Marke Lovell Design Engineers and lie on the North Wiltshire Rivers Cycle Route (part of the National Cycle Network).
The Black Bridge lies at the north-east corner of Chippenham and is constructed on the site of an railway bridge over the River Avon and makes use of the pre-existing bridge piers. The bridge incorporates an unusual viewing platform on a spur which runs down from the main bridge deck to the top of one of the bridge piers. Further information may be found on the

As with anything new, there is usually a little local whinge by members of the local community as described in the community website This is Wiltshire.
Travellers on the A4 further to the east may be startled to see the Black Dog Bridge. This lies on the same disused railway line as the Black Bridge and is a striking inclined arch bridge which spans the trunk road a short way to the west of Calne. Finally, there is the Baydons Lane Bridge, also over the River Avon on the south side of Chippenham.
